integrate project server 2007 with sharepoint server 2007

Hi
I have a small farm of one web front end and application on a server 1 and
sql server on server 2.
i want to install the project and portiffilio on another server 3 on the
farm that is totally new server with only windows 2003 , .net and iis.
i need to intgrate the sharepoint sever with the project server. i have gone
through the technet http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc197558.aspx
but i am not sure if i can use the 3rd server withiut installing moss on it
Or what steps i should go through?
please advise i have read the deployment document but i am confused about
how the project server will integrate with the sharepoint server
