Integrate the "Note" capability of Outlook into OneNote

J

JohnK

To my great delight, I discovered today that Outlook Notes can be pasted onto
OneNote pages. They appear as .msg hyperlinks. This is an easy way to
increase the functionality of OneNote. Perhaps Outlook could also benefit
from this feature? Increasing the integration of this concept would benefit
both products and users as well.

You have that capability already. All you need to do is install the
Outlook to OneNote PowerToy.

Thanks for the info, Steve. Didn't think about needing the powertoy. When it
was announced, I didn't see a need to transfer email, so I didn't install it.
Didn't think about transferring notes.

However, I've been trying (unsuccessfully) to install the Outlook to OneNote
powertoy for the last hour. I've checked .net framework. It's installed and
active, I've disabled MS Spyware Beta and MS OneCare Beta. I am logged on as
administrator. I still get the following message when I try to install the
powertoy: "The advertised application will not be installed because it might
be unsafe. Contact system administrator to change the installation user
interface option of the package to basic." I don't know what application is
generating the error message. Suggestions?

Try this:

1) Start the installation process.
2) When the message comes up, hit Ctrl-Shift-Esc to bring up the
Task Manager.
3) Look in the Applications tab for the item that refers to the
window with the error message.
4) Right-click on that item, then select "Go to process."
5) That will switch you to the Processes tab, and will highlight
the executable that is giving you the message.
6) Then search the computer for that file and see where it is.
That should give you some information about what's causing
the problem.

Hope that helps.

Still no joy to report. Msiexec.exe is the calling file. It's in c:\I386 and
I have full control for the file. Other thoughts? Sure would like to get
Outlook2OneNote PowerToy working.

Are you logged in to Windows using an account that has local
administrator privileges?

Yes, tried as local user with full privileges and administrator. I akso
Googled for more info on the error AND searched the Knowledge Base with
little luck.
