Integrating schedules

I'm working on a project that has input from multiple functional departments.
One of the departments has a detailed Project schedule. I'm wondering what is
the best way to incorporate his input. Should I take detail items from his
schedule? Or milestones? Or both? And then link them so I can get a critical
path? What's best practice?

Hi

If you have to incorporate the whole project schedule of the other
department, you may insert it as a sub project and provide linkages with
other activities if required. Then also you will get a collective critical
path.

But if you have to incorporate only few activities of a department, take
those as activities or milestones.
