Integrating Visio with sharepoint

Hi,

Firstly i have no real experience with Visio (except for a few years back
when i used it at uni).

I have had a request to integrate visio with our sharepoint setup so that we
can have project timelines created from our schedules stored in project
server.

I have read that this is possible in an article by Mark Bukovec on the
Microsoft site titled - "Integrating Microsoft Office Visio 2003 with
Microsoft SharePoint Products and Technologies" - in particular the section
"Scenarios for implementing the Visio web part" (Visio Web part for Project
Management).

Has anyone done this? or can anyone point me in the right direction on how
to get started on this?

Any help would be absolutely great, as i said already i have no real
experience with Visio or how to program with it.

Thanks

Lee

Hi,

i have now read the following MSDN articles:

"Creating web parts that call web services for Microsoft SharePoint Products
and Technologies"
"Programming with the Microsoft Office Visio 2003 ActiveX Control"
"Integrating Microsoft Office Visio 2003 with Microsoft SharePoint Products
and Technologies"

I understand how to basically create a web part, its the rest that is
confusing me. PDS is throwing me, i have the SDK, but, well its probably
because its a friday but at the moment its not making much sense.

i'm guessing no-one has actually tried to make a dynamic visio timeline
before, so if anyone has any advice or can point me in the right direction
that would be great.

Thanks for all and any help provided

regards

Lee
