Integration BCM SBS 2008

Hi, we wish to install our BCM database on a SBS 2008 server.
I have seen a Outlook 2007 with Business Contact Manager: Database Admin
Tool
(http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/...0f-f593-4fb4-b822-dd662af1a6cb&displaylang=en)
that let us install BCM on a server. For the time being only Windows Server
2003 Service Pack 1; Windows Small Business Server 2003 ; Windows Vista;
Windows XP Service Pack 2 are supported. Have someone some experience on
dealing Outlook BCM with SBS 2008 ?

Hello,
I just try the installation on SBS 2008 english but it fails at the moment
with the creation of the database through the "Contact Manager for Outlook
2007 Database Tool" when I try to create the new database. The error is:
"Cannot create a new database. The operation has been rolled back. Please
make sure the database service is running".
So I am stopped for the moment to figure out some new information.

In the Application log is one new entry:
Error for the login of user xxx\bcmadmin'. [CLIENT: <local machine>]

Try giving bcmadmin privileges to access sql server. Did user bcmadmin
create the BCM instance (MSSMLBIZ) in which you are trying to create

Hello,
We were able to accomplish the installation of BCM 2007: Database Admin
Tool on SBS 2008. Below are the basics that worked for us.
Download the tool
(http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/...0f-f593-4fb4-b822-dd662af1a6cb&displaylang=en)
and install. When we go to create the Database, we are only shown the
"SBSMONITORING" instance that is available and we do NOT want to create our
database using the SBSMONTIORING instance. So this means we need to create a
new instance for the BCM Database. Close the Business Contact Manager for
Outlook 2007 Database Tool.

*Note: Next, I downloaded SQL 2005 Express Edition 32-bit. The installation
would not complete with a message stating that this appication cannot be
installed on a 64-Bit machine.

So, I then downloaded SQL Server 2005 Express Edition 64-bit
(http://www.microsoft.com/Sqlserver/2005/en/us/express-down.aspx). You must
run the installation again, even if it is already installed, as this is the
only way to install a new SQL instance.
-Select Advance Installation options in order to specify the instance name
-Name the new instance to be created as "MSSMLBIZ"
-Follow through with the rest of the options as default.
The installation for the 64-bit SQL2005EE succeeded.

Then fire up the Business Contact Manager for Outlook 2007 Database Tool
again(from your start menu). Run the "Create a new database" option.
-select your new "MSSMLBIZ" instance from the dropdown.
-Leave the default ne database name.
-Follow through with the defaults

Once finished, then Select the second option from the "welcome" screen named
"Share a database".
-Select your instance containing the database
-Select your database
-Select the users to be accessing the database (these are your Outlook
client users, so please be sure to add everyone that needs to access the BCM
database)
-Next you'll see a summary and then the tool will perform the actions and
give you further instructions on how to connect the clients to the DB.
Hopefully this will help some of you out there that are wondering if it is
possible to install BCM on SBS 2008!

I stumbled acroos this posting searching for answers for installing BCM 2007
Admin Tool on a SBS 2008 server. I see you have successfully done this and I
began following your instructions regarding installing SQL 2005 Server
Express 64-bit. When I attempted this and it ran trhrough the systems check
it gave me a warning.....

- ASP .Net version Registration Requirement
- Failed to find the ASP .Net version Registration with Microsoft Internet
Information Services (IIS).

I'm running IIS7 of course. I have .net 3.5 installed as well as .net 2.0
x64 which was installed with the OS (I discovered this when I tried to
install it as I had thought perhaps that was my issue). Any ideas as to what
this means. I've done some googling and have not come up with a definitive
answer. Thanks.

I'm running SBS 2008 Premium and want to verify and confirm the version of
SQL 2005 Express. How can one tell if you have x86 or x64-bit versions? The
SQL 2005
that was installed I'm sure is the default version used for the SBS
companyweb (SBSMONITORING). When I go into the version properties it reads

"Microsoft SQL Server Express Edition with Advanced Services"

The root directory is "C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft SQL
Server\MSSQL.1\MSSQL". This is the confusing part for me as this is a x86
application directory. I know that I am runnng SBS 2008 x64 as that is the
only version available. The reason why I am asking is that I want to
re-install or upgrade MS SQL Server 2005 Express x64 so that I may create a
new instance for BCM. I also want to make sure that I don't lose the default
instance for companyweb (SBSMONITORING). I appreciate any and all input and
comments. Here is basically what I am asking.

1. Am I running MS SQL Server 2005 Express 64-bit version?
2. What does the "Advance Services" mean in "Microsoft SQL Server Express
Edition with Advanced Services"?
3. Can I re-install or upgrade to Microsoft SQL Server Express 64-bit and
not lose my companyweb (SBSMONITORING) instance?
