Intellisense disappears in Powerpoint VBE

Having a problem with disappearing intellisense and VBE code tooltips in
Powerpoint 2003. After typing a "." the intellisense lists flashes for a
moment then disappears. If I type

ActivePresentation.

I'll see a list of ActivePresentation properties flash then disappear.
Autocomplete doesn't work - typing

ActivePresentation.Sl

doesn't suggest "Slides"

If I type

ActivePresentation.Slides.Add

then hold down the space bar, the data tips showing parameters for "Add"
will display but only as long as I hold down the space bar.

I've uninstalled and reinstalled PPT2003, no change. Intellisense works in
the Word 2003 and Excel 2003 VBEs.

Any ideas on what might be going on and how to fix?
