Intent/diff. project custom vs. Enterprise custom fields

I am planning to use a text field to allow project managers to add a
particular type of notation for certain tasks in their plans. I plan to
include this field in a view that I will use to run a custom report.

I was about to add the Text1 field to the Task Sheet in the Global
Enterprise Template for this purpose and then started wondering if their
might be a benefit to using the Enterprise Text1 field instead. While
pondering this I realized I really don't have a strong handle on the
difference between the custom project and enterprise project fields and the
benefits or intended use of each.

Can someone either direct me to a good place to read about this or share
your thoughts on this? Many thanks!

You should use an custom enterprise Task text field for this purpose. You
should open the Enterprise Global file, rename the desired field, and then
edit it according to your reporting needs. For more information on this
