Interaction with Norton Internet Security

I've noted certain people's criticism of NIS...but I also note some people
talk about everything can be working fine and then suddenly.....it doesn't.
I have a similar problem, Outlook 2003 working fine with NIS 2005. Then
suddenly I can't send/receive e-mails. Or rather I can, if I disable
specifically NIS [not N. Anti-Virus].

Any clues what the fix is?

I have only been scanning incoming mails, not outgoing....and as I said, it
worked fine until a month ago...

And I am only on XP SP1 because the last two attempts to "upgrade" to SP2
resulted in the use of the XP recovery disc and work on the registry
files....it ain't worth the bother to try it again!

Yes, there are issues with NIS and mail scanning, both incoming and
outgoing. Scanning incoming mail is redundant, huge overhead and can cause
duplicate messages (or worse). You mail is automatically scanned when you
open it so scanning incoming or outgoing mail is redundant and sales tactic.

Post all replies to the group to keep the discussion intact. Due to
the (insert latest virus name here) virus, all mail sent to my personal
account will be deleted without reading.
