Interactive content warning message

Hi,

I'm new to Front Page 2003. I am designing a simple web site (6-8 pages).
I have inserted a few "interactive buttons" on the home page. They work
fine, but every time I bring the site up in the browser (IE 6), I get a nasty
warning message in an Information Bar "To help protect your security,
Internet Explorer has restricted this file from showing active content that
could access your computer. Click here for options." From this point I can
"allow blocked content" which promptly displays a Security Warning box about
the evils of active content that "might also harm my computer". When I
confirm that I want to allow the active content, everything works as
expected. My concern is that I can't make this public if it's going to
generate warning messages like this. Any suggestions how to use interactive
buttons without causing a security scare for people who want to see the site?

You need to test the page via http, not from you local machine using a drive letter.

Is there a way to do this om my machine, or my local network? I don't have
an arrangemment with an ISP yet.

Only if you are running Windows XP Pro and have installed IIS and the FP extensions. Also you will
need find a Windows IIS web host.

Removing and reinstalling the extensions clears the log files on the server.

I only have XP Home so I guess I'll have to wait until I get signed up with a
host. According to Yahoo Small Business, they support Front Page. Before I
sign up I will ask to confirm that they are a Windows IIS web host.

I believe Yahoo is Linux/Unix..and their support ain't what it used to
be....there are better hosts out there.

That is a security feature on Windows XP SP2 for the new security zone: Your Computer
- only applies to html pages you run on your PC from your PC that contain scripts (IB's use JavaScript)
(ignore the warning and select allow blocked content for Your pages - since you created them)
- the zone should not be disabled
- in your published online site it will not appear

If you don't want the alerts in your pages while testing locally,
add the following to the top of all pages
(after the <html> tag as a "Mark of the Web")
