interactive website question

I maintain simple website with FP 2003 which is client-side only. I was
invited to demo of website which webmaster created for political group done
in PHP with Dreamweaver. It had forums which I am not sure would serve a
small church since with forums, moderators are needed. But what impressed
others was the ability to directly imput text on website with the editing
box with the little icons above the windows for Bold, Font, Color, etc.
Minister was impressed that he could directly input text. Also there was
ability to upload pictures directly to the website. The pictures were
optimized, resized and uploaded to web. Of course password and userid
access was required.

I am thinking that there must be something similar that could be done with
FP. Could someone point me to anything I could read to figure out how to
make a FP client-side website more interactive. What changes could I make
without having to purchase Dreamweaver to achieve similar results?

Thanks,
Susan

PHP, ASP, ASP.net could be used with FP to do the same. Any type of site created in Dreamweaver can
be created with FP.

You would have to do a search for PHP, ASP based content management applications.

You'd need a "Content Management System" to do what you've
described.....Dreamweaver has a add-on software package called "Contribute"
(or similar) which is a C.M.S.- enables basic editing of web pages without
the full knowledge and expertise of Dreamweaver. It is done with server
side scripting (ASP, PHP, Perl etc)....

Short of teaching various people how to use frontpage, a simpler solution is
what you need, unless, if you're the webmaster for the church, everyone just
sends you their info and you put it on the web.

Susan,

It sounds like you were seeing a demo of Mambo, a content management system.
See http://www.mamboserver.com/. Often Mambo templates are created with
Dreamweaver. A large number of churches use Mambo to manage their sites.
