Interesting field problem

D

David Thielen

Hi;

We just had a problem with a customer. They somehow did not delete a field,
but they did delete the text displayed so the \fldrslt was nothing. So they
did not see the field and assumed it was gone - but we processed the field as
it was still there.

Even when we said show all formatting - nothing. Any suggestions on how to
handle this?

Hello Dave,

I would like to know this issue more clearly.

What office product you use in the add_in?

What did your add-In do?

Could you provide some detailed repro steps so that we could troubleshoot
what's going on?

Sincerely,

Wei Lu

Hello Dave,

I understand that you are using the AUTOTEXTLIST field.

And after the customer remove the field text, you still could get the field
in your add-in.

This is by design. You could reuse the field in your document. What I would
like to know is that what you wants your customer to do? And what's your
exactly behavior?

Hello Dave,

It seems that you save the document as a RTF format.

I would like to know what's the problem your add-in get? How about use
Notepad to open the RTF file and add the text manually?

Hello Dave,

I would like to know how your customer delete the text. Per my test, I only
could delete it when I use the Notepad to open the document.

Could we do something to protect the document to avoid this kind of
operation?

Sincerely,
