Interesting Page nyumbering problem

[Air Force Jayhawk]

I inserted a Page X of Y in the footer of a document. X is {page} and
Y is {numpages}.

On the screen it looks fine. But when it prints it prints
"1 of 1"
"2 of 2"
"3 of 3"
etc...

Hints?
