Intermittent error messages when closing Word 2003

My boss uses MS Word 2003 Pro with XP Pro on a Dell Precision M65 laptop.
His default printer is an HP 1300. All of the latest O.S. and Office updates
have been installed. He will close the document he is working on first then
close Word. Intermittenly he will get an error message which contains the
Code: 0xc0000005 when closing Word. I have tried uninstalling the security
updates for Word with no luck. I have also uninstalled and reinstalled Office
2003 Pro. The error report has been sent to Microsoft MANY time and today it
came back with a response to apply a security update. I did so and the
problem persists.
I am pulling out my hair and don't have much left!! Any ideas??

Have you tried renaming his normal.dot? A couple of articles that might give
you some direction...

Hi,

I did try renaming the normal.dot file and it did not work. I wound up
finding the problem after looking at your article that mentioned problems
with plug-ins. Discovered it was caused by a Docs To Go plug-in used by his
Palm Handheld. Since he does not use Docs To Go, I uninstalled it from laptop
and handheld and presto...no more errors!! Thanks for your help.
