Intermittent failure of c, v, h, t and s keys

I have the weirdest problem. Once every week or so my c, v, h, t and s keys do not respond anymore. I know it is not a hardware issue, since they do work if I hold the shift key down. The only remedy I know is to close all office applications and restart. I usually see it in outlook but it has happened in other office applications as well

I run Outlook 2003 on Windows XP

I would try a new keyboard - there is more to a keyboard than just a working
key, and that it works when the shift key is held doesn't necessarily mean
the keyboard is working. (Been there, done that with a laptop keyboard. My
problem keys worked with the left shift but not the right shift.)
