Internal Error 2908

I can't remove or reload MSOffice 2000 SR1 - it keeps
telling me there's an internal error 2908 and I need to
contact the Microsoft people.
I've done that - just waiting for a reply.
In the interim, anyone have this experience before? Know
what it is? What caused it? How can I fix it?
HELP!
