INTERNATIONAL PORTABILITY OF MDE FILES

F

FEJAeb

I've created an MDE application
with:
O.S. win XP ita
Access XP ita

In Italy with:
O.S. from win 95 TO win XP
all is OK!

in poland with:
O.S. WINXP polish
access XP polish AND / OR italian

It appears this error:
A problem occurred while XXX was communicating with OLE server or ActiveX
control

The problem can be solved:
changing in the polish O.S.
the language use in "International settings" under " language for non
UNICODE programs" TO Italian or english

But this solution get to crash a heap of other programs

What should I do in order to distribuite a "universal" MDE file , with the
garantee that It will be working everywhere on this planet ?

Thanks in advance and best regards !!

I checked all the code:

1) my code is in standard latin caracters , there are only a lot of some
underscores (which are I presume also standards)
2) there are a few of standard access components such as the "body" of a
form which have defaults names (by microsoft) including "italian" specific
caracters.

I tried to change these names (point 2) so far as possible. then I changed
the language to polish with the same result.

Just a question?
In order to recompile the MDB with the english version of access with US
standard ANSI settings, should I recreate all the form and reports from
scratch nad paste and copy the code Or there is a quick way ?

I think this is a source of a problem:
2) there are a few of standard access components such as the "body" of a
form which have defaults names (by microsoft) including "italian" specific
caracters.

perhaps you still have non-english characters, try to delete forms/reports
one-by-one to find out which one cause the problem
In order to recompile the MDB with the english version of access with US
standard ANSI settings, should I recreate all the form and reports from
scratch nad paste and copy the code Or there is a quick way ?

If you find "bad" names, like body - you can just rename it, if this does
not help - you need to recompile

Pls let me know if you achieve any result
