internet explorer patch

i keep getting emails supposidly from microsoft to down
load the internet explorer patch which is supposed to be
causing problems does anyone know if this is really from
microsoft and if it is safe

It is most likely a virus on another's computer who has your email
address. Don't respond to it or you will have the same virus.

Go directly to Microsoft and check for any downloads you might need. It
make take a minute or two, but look around and you will find some tools
there to determine if you need any patches and if needed it is safe to
download from there.
