I have found that with Outlook 2003 that if I add contacts who are in a
shared public contacts folder (in the public folders) that it will not look
up their FreeBusy information unless you have already added a contact from
your local contacts that has an internet free busy entry.
Once you have added one contact that makes the call correctly then all new
contacts you add from the shared folder work properly as well.
Has anyone else noticed this and is there a fix available?
Reproduction Steps:
1. Create a contacts folder in the public folders with permissions for
everyone.
2. Add a contact in that public folder with the internet free-busy field
filled out.
3. Select the public contacts folder and go to preferences->Outlook Address
Book and select the checkbox for "Show this folder as an e-mail Address Book".
4. Create a local contact with different internet freebusy url.
5. Create an appointment with the contact in the public contacts folder.
---it will not attempt to even make a connection, verified with weblogs and
packet capture tools ---
6. Add the local contact
---it will look up the freebusy information---
7. Add the public contact again
---it will look up the freebusy information for the public contact that it
did not look up before---
I would love a solution as telling hundreds of users to drag the contacts
from a public folder to their local folder would be problematic... and future
changes to the contacts would be a management nightmare.
