Internet links open behind the slide

I have a presentation that contains a number of links to the Internet, but
when I click on them, IE opens behind the slide. In other words, I need to
"escape" out of the presentation view to see the opened Web page. They used
to open a new window with the Web page, and when I closed the Web page I was
back in presentation view in PPT. I've tried a number of different settings,
but always the same problem. Can anybody help?

You make no mention of version of Word or operating system so it's rather
hard to know what combination you might be working with. That makes it just
as difficult to offer any suggestions. Fortunately you make a passing
mention of "IE" which indicates you're probably using some version of PPt on
some version of Windows. However, you've wandered into the group for PPt on
the Mac so we may not be able to help even if you gave enough information.
