Interoperability - Office x & Office 2000

Hi,

Can a file created in Office 2000(mainly Excel and Word) be opened and
modified in Office X and vice-versa? Do I need a translator? Is there
anything special I have to setup? All files are stored on my win2k
Server and PC and Mac users share them. Can the mac user simply
browse for the Office 2000 file on my server and double click it? And
vice-versa? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks
Gavin

Win Office97/00/02/03 and MacOffice98/01/v.X file formats are
identical, so you should have no problem opening them in Office X.
Certain features are platform and version dependent, of course
(e.g., the List Manager doesn't exist in WinXL and ActiveX controls
don't work on Macs).

If your Mac users have access to your server, they should be able to
access your files, but there are so many server/client
configurations out there that I'd hesitate to guarantee anything.
