How do I turn off the interpunct in Word

In all the years I've been reading the newsgroups, and answered probably
hundreds of questions about this, you're the only one who has called it by
its correct name!

The interpunct or dot between words is a nonprinting character that Word
uses to indicate a space character. The display of nonprinting characters is
usually controlled by the ¶ button on the toolbar or ribbon. It's a
toggle -- click once for on, again for off -- and it has the keyboard
shortcut Ctrl+Shift+8.

If the dots remain when you turn off the ¶ button, then go to Tools >
Options > View and uncheck the option to display spaces (and any of the
other items that are individually checked; the ¶ controls only the "All"
option).

See http://www.word.mvps.org/FAQs/Formatting/NonPrintChars.htm for more.
