Interval speed between "credits"

Hello group,
I have been using PP for about a year and always used the On Click to bring
in the next custom animation or move from slide to slide.
Well, today I used timing and "after previous" with the credits custom
animation, no matter what I did I could not reduce the interval time between
the credits.
I tried to reduce the speed of the scrolling credit but all that did was
make the text slow down or speed up, is there a way to adjust the speed of
the intervals between the lines of text that make up the credits.
I have Mark Twain, Robert Frost, Ernest Hemmingway, and Charles Dickens.
Mark Twain will appear and scroll up in about 5 seconds, then there is a
blank screen for another 5 seconds and then Robert Frost appears.
ANY suggestions or help would be greatly appreciated.

Two ways to get the effect (I think) you want

1. Apply the animation then go to custom animation pane
Expand the entry by clicking the little double arrow below it
Change the second line to "with previous" and add a delay in the timing tab
of say 2 secs
Next line also "with previous" delay + 4 secs (2+2)
etc

2. Type in the text box name one then a few enters to give the gap needed -
then name two etc

Apply credits but in text animation tab choose as one paragraph

Thank you VERY much.
It worked just like I wanted it to, I used the first one as I could not get
any of the boxes in the timing effects dialog box to accept any of my
typing, but I have the exact effect I was looking for and I don't have to
make small talk while there is a delay
