Intraslide animations and timings

Is there any way to extract animations (names and timings) from a PowerPoint
(2007) file. My ultimate goal is to produce a "parallel" video from the
PowerPoint presentation have the same or similar animations.

VBA not so much -- maybe Python?

I was hoping there was some ready made solution or that it would be readable
in some sort of text format output of PPT - XML or similar. Not in the cards
I guess?
