Invalid Authentication key

My friend's computer fried. We purchased a new pc and tried to load a
legally purchased copy of MS Office Home onto her computer. When loading, it
told us the authentication key wasn't valid. We can't uninstall from the old
computer. How can we make it work on her new pc?

Where did you get the Product Key?

If the product key isn't for the exact same version as the trial, it won't
work. That includes OEM vs retail
