Invalid Call

We are using PWA and Project Server 2007. We have a resource person trying
to update her tasks and each time she does she gets an invalid call error.
It says to click for more info but there is no further info to be found in
the popup (just a generic help from Microsoft). We thought it was a matter
of republishing the schedule because I noticed the task number was different
in PWA then it was when I opened the same schedule in Project. We
republished and are having the same error.

She can update any other task in the same schedule fine. The server admin
added himself as a resource for the same task and was able to update with no
problems but she can still not update that task. Please help.

Hi Linda,

not sure what the invalid call means, but from what you write, it seems that
it is only this task and only this resource that has the problem. In order to
work arround it quickly, you may want to create a new task and assign the
rest of the resources work to this task ( also zero out the remaining work of
your "problem" task) , publish it and see if she can update this task. I know
it is not an elegant solution, but a good work arround.

Alternetafly you may want to check the event logs on your server to see
ifyou have any error messages. If so let me know what the error messages are.
Thanks

We found no audit trails or errors in the logs. The only thing we have been
able to hypothesize is the error was a result of an incomplete publish
possibly before this particular user's task updates were processed. The
system administrator again made himself the owner and the second time had the
same error as the user. He then somehow changed the hours left on the task
and republished and the user can now enter data. We are still trying to find
out the cause as we are soon to use this tool across the company and do not
want to repeat the problems.
