invalid office 2007 home and office product key

I skipped entering the product key during install of office 2007 home and
office (a new retail copy) on a vista machine and am trying to do it now in
the dialog that pops after office program startup. The dialog is saying the
key is invalid - It is the correct key.

I saw the other posts advising to uninstall the office activation assistant
for trial version of office 2007, which I did, but still the key is invalid.

I am down to nine startups without a key - any ideas why the key is not
accepted?

My trouble is before activation step - I am not able to enter a valid product
key.

In this scenario you are allowed to run word/excel/powerpoint I think 25
times before they won't run anymore until i enter the product key. I am down
to a couple more startups.

The kb seems to be geared to installations that are failing activation, or
who succeeded activation but are now failing anyway. In all these scenarios
you have to have entered a valid product key.

I am 100% sure I am entering the correct (valid) product key.
