I have an Excel workbook with multiple worksheets, many of
which are linked together. The ALLVOLS worksheet, in
particular, is referenced by other worksheets. Whenever
the traffic engineer updates the traffic volumes, he sends
a QuattroPro file that has been saved into Excel format. I
copy portions of the revised volumes from a worksheet in
his file and paste them into the ALLVOLS worksheet in my
file. The last time I tried to do this, the Excel
program "performed an illegal operation" and closed down.
Details indicate it is an invalid page fault in module
EXCEL.EXE at 017f:3067ef18. The problem appears to be in
my file, as the same message is generated if I try to
highlight a group of cells with the mouse. No virus has
been detected. I have tried opening and resaving my file
to a new name, but the problem persists. The file is about
1.2 MB, so it is big, but not really huge. Please provide
information on what causes this and how to fix it, as it
is delaying a major project.
