Invalid path error

I have a access program running on a widows 98 system using access 2002. the program will run for a while then error out with the following error, "....f:\data\test.mdb is an invalid path or is not connected to server". While the database file is stored on the server. When I get the error I can still go to the file on the server

any thoughts would be great
