Invalid product key after upgrading

After I upgraded 2 computers at our church using Office Upgrade, both prompt
for a product key upon trying to open a file when double-clicking it with
Excel or PowerPoint. Both say the key I give them is invalid. One copy was
Office XP for Students and Teachers and the other is Office 2000 Professional.

I can save the file and open it with Excel or PowerPoint, but I cannot Open
With or double-click the file.

What gives?
