I recently moved my Outlook XP on windows XP to another computer, as the
original one is going in for repair. I used the Windows XP Files and
Settings transfer Wizard to move my Outlook Settings.
For the most part it went well, but I found that I had to migrate my own
digital signatures by hand, exporting them and importing them on the new
computer.
However, on the new computer, when I receive digitally signed mail, I get a
red exclamation mark on the digital signature icon of the mail. when I open
it up, and look at the details of the signature, at the signer level, the
error reads "The mail contents were possibly changed." (This is an
approximate translation -- the software is in German).
Even if I click on the "Trust" button, and label the signature as valid,
when I try to send an encrypted or signed reply back, I am not allowed to do
so, because the signature is considered invalid.
I know the signatures are good. On the original computer, they were
considered acceptable. I even signed a message and sent it to myself on the
new computer with a signature I know to still be valid, but it was labelled
as invalid.
How do I solve this problem without getting new mail certificates?
Thanks for your help.
