I'm fairly new to Access, but am quick to pick things up, yet this is
stumping me. I downloaded the Inventory Template database on MicroSoft's
site to get some ideas on where to go with what I want to do, but it is still
stumping me.
I want to setup a check-out type of scenario. I have a library of products
(most only have one or two of the same product) that I want to lend out to
people. When the people check it out, they have seven days to turn it back
in. I haven't even begun to think about that.
The problem I am having at this point is I want to be able for the
"customers" to be put on a wait list if the product they want is already
checked out to someone else - and the wait list for that one product could go
on indefinitely. I'm just not sure exactly how to setup the table for this.
Ideally I want to have a form that they submit requesting the certain product
they want and then have that form then add them to the wait list. I have a
table of customers and the requiring information I need for that and I have a
list of the different products and the limited inventory of them - 1 or 2 in
stock. I would assume that I need a third table for the wait list with the
person who is next to get the product right at the top. I may have just
answered my own question - but would I then put a relationship between the
two tables (products and wait list) with the product id being the common
factor?
Every time I start to think I've got it correct, I find it's not. Any help
would be appreciated.
Thanks!
