inverted commas in German fashion.

Operating System: Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard) I've been sent a PPT doc to proofread. It was written by a German on a German system and the inverted commas are in the German fashion of two at the bottom on the left and on the top at the right.

I want to correct these to show the English language version of " ", but I'm not able to override whatever coding the original document has.

I've tried many things but cannot find out to do this... Does anyone know how?

many thanks

it's not something coded in the document itself that you could simply
switch to a different version,
Different languages use different quotes. They are separate characters.
How to type them depends on your keyboard layout.
Using a US QWERTY keyboard, I can type the curly quotes you are
referring to using Option-[ and Option-Shift-[

You can go to your System prefs > International (or now Language & text
in 10.6) > Input Sources and in the list there, select to display the
keyboard viewer in the Input menu.
In the Inpput menu now in your menu bar, you can select the Keyboard
Viewer.
This app will display the keys you press and help identify the shortcuts
required on *your* keyboard to get these characters and others.
Simply try pressing the modifier keys to test (Option, Shift...).
