Invisible Constraints

Kay

Hi
I found something very strange
I have a task which is fixed work.
The constraint is asap
I use a predecessor so I want that my task starts
directly after the predecessor.
But it does not
It starts two weeks later.
Why?
I have all tasks on asap all group tasks I checked about constraints
etc. but I do not find the solution to this problem.
Help please.

Hi,

- The task has a resource assigned that is not available OR
- You have Resource Leveling put to automatic and the resoruce on the task
was overallocated OR
- The task has a task calendar assigned to it, and the calendar has
nonworking time

Hope this helps,

Another possibility:
You have a link to the summary task for that task, and the predecessor to
that summary task is completing in two weeks.

Hi Jan
Hi,

What do you meant is not available?
It shows up in the resource sheet with 100%max units
- You have Resource Leveling put to automatic and the resoruce on the task
was overallocated OR
It is set to manual, day by day
- The task has a task calendar assigned to it, and the calendar has
nonworking time
Wouldn't that mean it has to split the task or it has to set the
end date to later?

Hi Kay,

Here are some answers
What do you meant is not available?
It may be unavailable due to nonworking time (holidays, etc.)
Wouldn't that mean it has to split the task or it has to set the
end date to later?
Not if the "nonworking" period of the task calendar is at the start of the
task.

Jack's suggestion is also a possible explanation.

If these possibilities don't seem to hold, let me have a look at the file;
send it to
jandemesATprom-ade.be

whereby of course AT is to be replace by @

Hi Jan,
It may be unavailable due to nonworking time (holidays, etc.)

No, checked the calendar, all free
Not if the "nonworking" period of the task calendar is at the start of the
task.
I have only resource calendars, no task calendars
The task does not accept a start date in Task Information-General
It always goes back to the 28.5.08
whatever I enter
No clue why
Jack's suggestion is also a possible explanation.

If these possibilities don't seem to hold, let me have a look at the file;
send it to

Thank
Kay
