Invisible inserted picture in Word v.x doc

Doc

I have just installed Office v.X with 10.1.5 upgrade on my Mac G4
cube. No user changes were made to the application before the
appearance of this problem, meaning it was broken out of the box.

The problem is with a picture (gif/tif/pict/jpg) that is inserted into
the Word document using the Insert-->Picture-->From File menu.

PROBLEM: When a picture is inserted from an Office file into a Word
document, the picture is invisible but a box appears around it. The
same picture appears correctly in PPT and XLS and prints correctly.
Note that the Format-->Object menu is muted so Word doesn't recognize
the object for modification.

Any ideas?

Thanks,

To insert TIF files:

If a TIF doesn't show when inserted, open the TIF file in Preview (in
application folder). Resave it and place the new Preview document in
the Word document. The .TIF extension will be dropped from name when
you resave the file in Preview so it will not write over the original
TIF document.
