Invisible Removed Inbox Attachments - Hidden?

Hello,

After saving and removing attachments from Inbox messages, they
apparently are not being actually deleted.

Using Arrange By; Size, numerous messages which "had" large jpg files
attached are still categorized as "Enormous >5 MB". Although "Mousing
Over" displays Date/Size, nothing appears in the attachment field.

Example-> Received: Mon 07/07/08 12:14 PM Size: 25MB

Using the same removal and sorting technique for Sent Items, this
function apparently does work properly.

When I originally noticed this, I speculated that Outlook 2007 was
sorting by the original size. However, my PST file has now ballooned
to 500 MB which is about 10X bigger than it should be.

I've tried Compacting the PST without Outlook running to no avail.

I am wondering if these "Removed" files are stuck in a hidden status
so they might be recovered by some new feature?

Perhaps another clue; I did view some of these attachments, and my
preview mode is enabled.

This is Vista SP1 and Outlook 2007 with the latest patches.

(Microsoft Office Enterprise 2007)

Any ideas?

Thanks for the reply.
Yes, they are first removed and then saved.
I believe it is a POP 3 account type.

This issue is now being investigated by MS Support.
