After a C-drive crash, I reinstalled Word2003 at home and discovered
I can no longer invoke it by dragging and dropping a .TXT or .HTM
file on its desktop icon. This used to work and still does on the
machine at my workplace. Now when I drag such a file over the Word
icon, the file icon turns into what I call a "no-no" symbol, which
resembles a small circle with a line drawn through it, and Word does
not start.
This may be a Windows-XP problem instead of Word, although I doubt
it because Wordpad still starts up when I drag and drop non-native
files over its desktop icon.
Would anyone be so kind as to point me in the right direction to
find a solution? I've searched for help on "invoke," "invocation,"
"start up" and "run" with no useful result. If you know the right
word(s) to use for an index or a search argument, you can usually
find the answer somewhere. What is the right word for this?
Thank you for your attention.
