Involuntary insert of text fragments in Word 2002

Working on page 40-document that was drafted in other country (possibly with
other version of Word and probably with other default language setting).
Repeatedly, just after I have moved or deleted text, I see spaces appear next
to cursor (highlighted in light blue) and/or fragments of words (that I do
not recognize as recent "cut" or "copy" items) type themselves. At first I
thought I was somehow triggering some odd auto-correction function while
letting my hands linger on the mouse, but now I see that it happens
occasionally when I am not touching the computer. Weird and frustrating! I
need for it to stop, natch ...

Do you have speech recognition software turned on, or even just
installed? Many people have reported that it picks up random noise
(audible or maybe just electrical) and translates it into random
garbage text.
