Inward/outward for connection points

Sam Huang

Hi,
I want to define custom connection points which can only be either
linked out or linked in, and it seems that the inward/outward
attributes in Visio cannot satisfy my demand. The inward connection
point can be both linked out and in, and I cannot make sure what the
outward connection point does. Any suggestions for my problem? Thanks!

Hello Sam,

Have you had a look at this connecting shapes section of DVS?:

Also you might find this blog post by Chris Roth from VisGuy.com handy:

Hope that helps.

Best regards

After checking out the demo file, I understood how outward points
work. But it is not the type I expected. I want to have a connection
point type which can only be the starting point of a connection, is
there any way I can achieve this? Thanks!

You have to do this by code in naming your connection point, managing
connection event and prevent connection that are not permitted regarding
you own rules. But it is not so easy.

Yes, it is the plan B. If I can only use the built in function of
Visio that would be much better.

I'm afraid that the plan B is the only solution.
