IRM errors in excel 2003

hi, trying to open a WRM/IRM protected workbook in Excel 2003 running on W2K
Pro. A generic "unexpected error" comes up when I try. I'm authorised to use
the workbook and no firewall S/W should be blocking the verification process.
Any ideas?
