I just finished a 400 page text (with many figures) in Word. There are many TOC
entries and MANY index entries. If I view the hidden codes, the document is
almost 35 pages longer, changing (of course) the pagination! And worse, some
figure formatting gets screwed up because they now fall across page breaks,
etc. It usually returns to normal when I turn the hidden text views off, but
sometimes I have to close and restart to get the correct pagination back.
(Using Office XP with WinXP Pro)
Is there a way or a program that will allow you to:
1. view in normal mode (no hidden text or fields) with the normal "correct"
pagination
2. see the hidden codes that are on the page being viewed
3. allow you to edit and save those codes
4. all the while preserving the proper pagination.
A program named "Crosseyes" does some of this, but it was awkward to use and
didn't let me edit the TOC and index entries.
