Is altering pre-loaded templates possible?

Sky

Hello,

This is my first post and I am in general pretty new at this. I am
reading tons and learning, but somedays you just gotta ask someone a
question!

I have installed Office for OSX (and luckily DID remove the test folder
first) and am attempting to alter some of the pre-designated attributes
(styles?) for some of the templates. I truly hate the colors they have
picked for the backgrounds on some of the templates.

For instance: The invoice template called Dots. I have been
succesful in changing the colors of the dots, the background where my
biz name goes and the biz text at the bottom of the page. However, no
matter what I do, I cannot seem to get that awful teal color out of the
two bordered boxes in the center of the page. I have hunted and pecked
around with some success.........the teal has been minimized but it is
still there.

Any pointer and guidance is VERY appreciated. Also, if you who are the
whizzes at this have any suggestions on tutorials or reading I am most
happy to follow your suggestions.

It would keep me from asking REALLY dumb questions......grin

Hello Sky -

It's a 3-step process:

1- Click in the table, go to Table>Select>Table, then go to Format>Borders &
Shading, select No Fill on the Shading page. Do this for each of the 2
tables, then

2- On the Formatting Palette open the Styles section & make sure that the
List at the bottom of the section reads Available Styles. Scroll in the list
of Styles to locate the Heading 5 Style (you can't miss it- it displays in
your favorite color :)). Position your pointer at the right end of that
Style name & click the button - where the ¶ is, not in the name box. Choose
Modify Style from the pop-up, then click the Format button at the bottom &
select Border, then pick No Fill here, then

3- When you click OK for Borders & Shading make sure you change the Font
color to something other than White using the button in the Modify Style
dialog & OK out.

You should be teal-free at that point.

Hi Sky,

As for reading and tutorials, check this out:

For great info on styles (and a whole lot more), tackle Clive Huggans' "Bend
Word to Your Will": <http://word.mvps.org/Mac/Bend/BendWordToYourWill.html>

And keep asking questions here. We have no problem with "really dumb
questions" ;-).

Thank you both so much!!

I have now become teal free.........grin.

I am devouring as much as I can to learn this and have some fun!! woo
hoo.....

I will attempt to keep the dumb questions to a minimum, but thank you
so much for letting me know that I won't be cooked for asking
them.......as least not to a crisp anyway.

Carry on.

Glad it worked for you - And it wasn't a dumb question at all. It took me a
while to figure out that *both* a Fill & a Style were responsible for the
coloring... And I'm _supposed_ to have _some_ idea what I'm doing <g>!

There are no dumb questions, and no dumb questioners. Only un-informed. :)

There may be some obvious questions and answers. :) And on occasion
some smart aleck questions and answers. :-(

But no dumb ones. :)
