Is custom.dic deleted during an upgrade from 2000 to 2007?

After upgrading the spell checker had lost all of the custom words input over
many years.

Tried to find the old custom.dic file but couldn't, just the empty one 2007
uses. Is it normal practise to lose the entire customised dictionary or does
anyone know where I can find it after an upgrade?
