Is Entourage '08 true Exchange RPC functionality

Version: 2008
Operating System: Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard)
Processor: Intel
Email Client: Exchange

Couple of things I am noticing..

ie. When I reply from Entourage '08 *connected back to Exchange server*, while it does show up in the sent items, on the PC side of things, the same email that I replied back in Entourage does not show up replied in my Outlook Client.

As well, is it just me or is there more Overhead via RPC with Entourage vs. Outlook ? With Outlook '03 or '07 connected back with RPC to Exchange from the *WAN/OUTSIDE*, it only syncs up whenver there is a change on either the client or server side.

However, with Entourage, when you 1st initially open the program, it tends to sync up or go through syncing up quite a bit of subfolders EVEN though not a single thing has changed on either the client or server side. Occasionally during the day, I will see again in the sync stautus, the same extra synching (even in subfolders I never touch no more).Anyone else notice this or is it just me....

Hi,

If your Entourage is configured as an Exchange client and on the other side
your Outlook is also configured as an Exchange client then I cannot think of
any reason why the emails your are sending from Entourage is not showing in
Outlook. Lets check this, once you sent an email from Entourage login to
your OWA and see if you can see the same email in the sent item in your OWA.

Entourage is not an RPC client. If you are outside the network and want to
configure your Entourage the you need to use the OWA URL. Check this
http://www.entourage.mvps.org/accounts/exchange.html
Now Entourage will always check the number of items he has in his database
and on the server and this will take time. The sync algorithm in Entourage
will always try to match these number of items and thats the reason why you
see a continuous sync.

If you have a huge mailbox then my sugestion is to archive old items this
will help.

thanks

Yes, that is a "limitation" of Entourage. If this is an issue for you, make
sure to Send Feedback to Microsoft.

Not of any significant level. I think you're fixating on minor issues.
With Outlook '03 or '07 connected back with RPC to Exchange from the
*WAN/OUTSIDE*, it only syncs up whenver there is a change on either the
client or server side.

Quite the contrary, Outlook does have to sync every folder and sometimes
takes a long time to do so. It may not be as obvious since you don't see a
Progress Window, but you can see it in the bottom corner.
However, with Entourage, when you 1st initially open the program, it tends
to sync up or go through syncing up quite a bit of subfolders EVEN though
not a single thing has changed on either the client or server side.

Entourage doesn't know that until it checks.

Is this causing you a problem?
