Is is possible to determine the body format of a mail in OL2K?

I know that MailItem::BodyFormat is only available in OOM10 onwards, but is
there any other way to determine the body format of a mail item? Is it held
in a MAPI property?

Thanks for any suggestions

Hi

Based on my research, it is hard to retrieve the BodyFormat property via
the method other than OM. Because it is not a really MAPI property, outlook
OM get the property based a series of pretty complex rules

Can you tell us what do you want to do with the message body, maybe there
is another approach?

I look farward to hearding from you.

Peter,

the reason I want to know the body format is that I am implementing
customised forward and reply processing, and want to be able to follow the
Outlook practice of replying to/forwarding the mail in the same format as it
was received in.

I've got an acceptable solution in Outlook XP onwards (though I've had to
cache the body format as a user property when the mail is first opened). In
Outlook 2000, I am having to default all mails to HTML.

thanks

Hi Matt,

Thank you for your input.
So far your workaround seems to be OK.
I will keep researching the issue to see if there is any other way to do
the job.

Hi,

Based on my researching, unfortunately, so far I think we have no other
approach to do the job.
