Is it necessary to install Office 2000 update if I have Office XP.

TThorne

After I download all the updates, the Install program asks for something from
the Office 2000 CD. Since I don't have that (I only have the XP Version) I
get stuck. If I manually download the full version of the program, it asks
where I want to INSTALL the file. I have no idea where to put it. Can
anyone help?
Thank you!

Hi, TThorne,

It may be that you still have some components of Office 2000 installed.
Would you please check the Windows Control Panel's Add/Remove Programs
applet and see if there is still anything there? That's likely the CD it's
looking for.

If you don't need it any longer, and if you no longer have the CD, you can
run the Windows Installer cleanup utility to remove the installer references
to the Office 2000 application(s). Then the Installer should no longer ask
about it:
