Is it possible to have a value list for a custom field to be filled by a table?

Hi,

I'm new to Project 2003/Project server 2003 and I was wondering if it is
possible to have a value list for a custom field filled with values from a
table in for example Access (or any other database).

If yes, could anyone point me in the proper direction for additional
info/reading.

It's possible via VBA programming, but not via a simple interactive way :-(
