is it possible to lock an image to prevent copying (in Word 03)?

I'm trying to prevent unauthorised copying of a protected image (logo) in a
widely distributed Word file. it would be good to have something similar to
the message you get when right-clicking on a protected image on a website
("can not copy this image" or similar)

Probably not. At least in the case of someone who's determined to copy.
Anything that's machine-readable by definition can be copied.
