is it possible to retrieve a word document after a complete syste.

after installing xp disc 2 recently my computer crashed, this was due to me
not turning off my firewall during instalation. i could not get my computer
back to normal even after speaking to micosoft staff, so my only option was
to put in the computer restore discs which duelly worked. my big problem is
that i`ve lost some very impotant word documents, is there any possible way
of retriving them??
i would be very grateful if somebody could assist me.

If you mean "lost" as in "they don't exist any more because the restore
wiped them out", then the answer is no, unless (a) you had a backup copy
saved on removable media or another machine (but if you had that you
wouldn't be asking), or (b) you're prepared to hand over many hundreds of
dollars to a recovery service such as Ontrack Data Recovery
(www.ontrack.com).
