is it POSSIBLE to scroll a form w/ wheel mouse? (I know this is a tired topic; BUT :-)

Bob

This seems to be a tired subject;

I've read all previously available posts regarding this topic, as well
as the applicable ms support KB page. I've also checked out mouseonoff
@ lebans.

EVERYTHING I've read talks about DISABLING the mouse wheel altogether.

what I really want to know - is can you get the mouse wheel to SCROLL
A FORM???

btw - who's idea was it @ microsoft to have the wheel scroll the
records and not the form anyway ?!?!?!?!

Instead of trying to scroll the form because it contains more controls
than will fit on your screen, have you considered using a tabcontrol
where you place your controls on several pages of the tabcontrol.
Logical grouping of the controls then becomes an aid to the user.

Hugh -
tx for your input. No, I hadn't considered that; it's a very good
idea.

although, out of curiousity, do you know if you CAN scroll a form w/
the mouse wheel?

Bob

Not to my knowledge. It was simply mis-implemented.

John - tx very much for your reply.

however, I feel compelled to add:

This seems like a logical appliction of the wheel; why wouldn't ms fix
the problem after it was discovered??????

This 1 "little" item has got to have pissed alot of people off!!!!

I don't think so but I stand to be corrected by all and sundry! I must
say I've never tried, as I aim to design my forms to be a simple as
possible and always to fit within the screen area. Boring, I know, but
easier for the user!

tx, Hugh;

I agree with your logic; however, I design my forms assuming the user
has at least 800x600 res.; and I was just thinking about the
[hopefully very few] users that might still be @ 640x480.

I do this because alot of users that I know about are running 1024,
and some of my forms really could use that real estate. But I continue
to design for 800.

Actually 800x600 is the correct resolution for designs. Have a look at
the ShrinkerStretcher at www.peterssoftware.com or similar
functionality code in the Access [version] Developer's handbook.
