I'm using Outlook 2000 on Windows XP and I'm a little confused on the use of
Rules created with Out of Office Assistant.
I created an OOO autoreply message and then added a rule "when a message
arrives that meets the following conditions," specifying name (mine in this
test) in the From field, under "perform these actions" I selected template
and pasted text into the message window that popped up, I just hit save on
this but did not save in OFT format. On testing, this generates two replies
(1) my standard OOO message and (2) the conditional reply. I tried deleting
the standard OOO message and tested again but this time no autoreplies were
generated.
Is the use of an OOO rule a two-pronged approach? -- all users get the
standard reply and only those users/messages meeting the conditions
specified in the rule(s) trigger the conditional response/action? Or is
there a way to set it up so that there is only a conditional action?
The reason that I'm playing with this feature is that I'm wondering if it's
possible to add a rule to Out of Office so that responses are only sent to
e-mail messages from other users on my domain?
